I will be soon getting my license (California), however I will not immediately be purchasing my own car. I am sixteen and I will most likely be driving one of my parents cars in the interim. Now here's my problem. My dad owns and e55 and my mom owns a 328. My mom commutes every day so driving her car is off the table. My dad almost never has to go anywhere in his car as he is currently on disability. The only problem is insuring me on the e55 will cost a fortune. When you call to add the car to insurance, do you add the teenager or just add the car to your own policy? My husband and I are confused about how this works. Our twins who are turning 16 this year were given a car by a friend of ours. We want to make sure it's all done legal and legit so that if they were in an accident it would be covered. I thought you had to add the teenager to your insurance as in the person is covered not just the car. My husband thinks we can just ad the car to our policy and let them drive it and they will be covered. Tonight I was sitting at a red light when I heard breaks screeching and before I had time to see where it was coming from I was rear ended by a tow truck. I just got my car yesterday a honda passport, the only thing that saved my car from severe damage was the spare tire on the bottom of my car by the bumper. I need to get secondary insurance for right now and then when i get married drop off my moms insurance and make my secondary insurance my primary insurance and put my (at that point my husband) on. My mom basically trying to make it extremely difficult for my fiance and I to get married because she tries to keep me under my thumb. My wife and I are traveling to New Zealand this September and renting a car for 2-weeks. We found out that our USA car insurance does not cover automobiles in New Zealand. I also checked American Express (my credit card) and they too do not offer any type of coverage in New Zealand. We are renting our car from Hertz but the insurance through them is super expensive. I reside in Texas and have auto debits monthly for my auto insurance. I just checked and they raised my rate this month without telling me and debited the new rate out of my account, but i agreed to debit monthly my rate but was on a lower rate for over 2 years and up until last month. New drivers (permit); what can save money on insurance?

Okay, new drivers in the family (got the permit today). Of course, DMV rats you out to Allstate, and Allstate charges a ton for insurance (Arm + Leg). Oh, two new drivers. So I'm looking for ways to show good character to Allstate or find a cheaper insurance. Now, I know some basic things about Auto Insurance: A) Good grades (above 3.0 gpa) can get a discount from some insurers (usually 10%). Have this. B) I drive a moderate car (not SUV or sedan). Good condition. C) The car will be shared between 2-3 young drivers. Since they can't all be in the car at once, I imagine this could reduce costs. D) No criminal record and no disciplinary file at school. E) In the Fall, Drivers Ed is offered. I understand that it also can reduce costs F) Parents are responsible drivers (low insurance) Who tends to be cheapest with Auto Insurance?
